Description of 123 Packard Avenue
Located at the corner of Packard Avenue and Talbot Avenue on the lower campus, this former fraternity house will be transformed into modern housing for graduate students at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, providing living amenities for 27 residents with a garden-level common room and a beautifully landscaped courtyard for community gatherings and events.
Project Design Priorities
Innovation and Collaboration
The building’s small-scale setting provides a comfortable environment for residents to connect and collaborate.
Community, Connections, and Well-Being
Spacious shared kitchens and common spaces will allow residents to gather, relax, and connect in non-classroom settings. A new, beautifully landscaped courtyard and garden-level common room will provide ample space for community events and celebrations.
Sustainability
With a focus on sustained energy efficiency, the building will include enhanced insulation, new windows, and energy efficient heat pump systems.
Accessibility
The renovation will feature an accessible entrance on Talbot Avenue and a three-level elevator, providing wheelchair access to 75% of the building. All bedrooms and bathrooms will be sized to meet ADA clearances.
