Project Design Priorities

Innovation and Collaboration
Modernized space for teaching, learning, research, and gathering will ensure that there are both formal and informal opportunities to collaborate while encouraging creativity and innovation.

Community, Connections, and Well-Being
The Bacon Hall renovation and addition will provide new space for current research while allowing for future growth. A new plaza in the front of the building will offer a beautiful community gathering space and will showcase a pollinator garden and a geological specimen display—connecting the exterior experience of the building to the learning and research occurring inside.

Sustainability
All mechanical, electrical, data, plumbing, and fire protection systems will be replaced. A new roof and windows and upgrades to the exterior wall assemblies will provide a thermally efficient building.

Accessibility
The renovation includes a new, centrally located, wheelchair accessible entry from Boston Avenue. The building will be fully compliant with ADA guidelines upon completion.
